Picnicking in a private spot on Parliament Hill

When the sun is shining, my perfect day in London is spent at Parliament Hill on leafy Hampstead Heath. The area at the peak of the hill tends to draw the crowds but the beauty of the Heath is its vastness. Once I’ve taken in the spectacular view, I generally head off through the wooded area behind the hill. On the other side, I find a beautiful open area that I make mine for the afternoon. There’s often not another soul in sight, and if there is, you can always hide in the long, wild grass! Such solitude in central London is a total treat.

It’s the perfect picnicking spot so en route I always call in at The Bull & Last on Highgate Road to treat myself to some of their scrumptious food. They churn their own ice cream every day, which I can rarely resist, and they also do an amazing picnic hamper if you’re feeling truly decadent. They even have a snack menu for dogs, so everyone goes away happy!
